    How to use the map

    Everything you need on the water — on one map.

    Pick a species and only the waters where the source data says it occurs remain. Rivers are drawn in red and their known rapids in orange. Aquamarine points are the best-known lake and coastal waters, and blue circles are the fisheries regions’ stock pages. Under Layers you can switch on depth contours, sea marks and shoals, plus shelters, fire sites, official fishing spots and boat ramps.

    Fish stocks by species

    The blue circles are water pages compiled from the fisheries regions’ use and management plans : measured catch per unit effort and stock trends with page-numbered sources. Choosing a species limits the map to waters where it occurs in the data. The circle shows the water’s location by order of magnitude, not the fisheries region boundary.

    Depths

    Depth contours, depth zones and sounding points for lakes and rivers from SYKE open data (CC BY 4.0). Coverage varies by water — not all lakes have been surveyed.

    Sea marks and shoals

    Marks, buoys and shoals from OpenSeaMap. Intended for finding fishing spots, not for navigation.

    Eight curated river destinations with their own pages — locations are approximate, permits always per the site’s terms.

    Invasive species observations

    Mistä vesistä on löytynyt aurinkoahventa, hopearuutanaa tai mustatäplätokkoa. Havainnot ovat julkisista aineistoista (GBIF), ja tason valikosta voi rajata yhteen lajiin.     The depth and sea mark layers are meant for finding fishing spots. They are not approved navigation data, may be outdated and coverage is incomplete. When boating, always use an official nautical chart and current notices.

    We publish only public and official sites — nobody’s private spots and no sensitive species locations. Your location never leaves your device.

    Lake, river and species names are shown in Finnish: they come from Finnish authority data and have no established translations.
